Tulum, Mexico

Our final destination for this trip was Mexico. We flew into Cancun airport and drove down the coast where we got a lush airbnb for the week. The location within Tulum left something to be desired but that didn’t stop us getting out to Chichen Itza and some surrounding cenotes while eating all the amazing food we could. We even got a change to celebrate Amber’s Birthday with a piñata, cake, balloons and a trip to Xcaret Park. We originally wanted a boat trip but the weather for her birthday had turned too windy.

Keoni even got to finally swim with turtles as we visited Playa Akumal twice. We saw loads of turtles, stingrays, squid, fish and a few other quirky sea animals. The food was amazing as was the culture and beach time and we definitely need to come back to this amazing country to explore further.

Amber is between jobs at the moment and so they decided to change their travel plans and extend their time by doing a 2.5 week road trip around California. We capped off the 5 week trip with them by having a blaster of a night at one of the local hotspots, dancing and drinking way too much tequila. We all woke up a little rough the next morning and drove them to the airport saying goodbye and relishing a fantastic trip together. Keoni and I then spent a couple of extra days in a nice hotel in Playa Del Carmen, soaking up the sun and sights and relaxing before having to brave work and the weather back in London.
