Canada – Ice Fishing

Yesterday was an ice fishing adventure where we hiked the short distance out to Mud Lake. We post-holed (where each step your leg sinks deep into the snow) through the forest, all the while hoping not to come across any hungry bears. Finally a quick trek across the lake to where Cameron said was the best spot to catch fish.

We cleared off the top coating of fresh snow with the shovel and the auger made quick work of the foot and a half of ice to create a nice 8″ wide hole down into the dark waters. We dropped a lure into the lake and kept busy and warm by starting a snow wall to block the wind. Unfortunately the fish weren’t biting but it was still a great evening, even while it puked down snow for an hour.
