Canada – The end of snowmaking

So this week gone was the last week of snowmaking. I finished the season on a high with a snowmobile tour of the mountain on the last night shift. Myself and two other snowmakers on snowmobiles made tracks all across the mountain, making our way to the top of the gondola lift. It was windy and a little cloudy but the view down into the valley was still stunning. All the other peaks lit up by the waxing moon and the lights of the town and Chateau further in the distance.

I’ve now gotten a new job in guest services, selling tickets which should be fun. I managed to wrangle almost two weeks of holidays before I start my new job which is perfect timing to go boarding with Andrew every day as he is back visiting.

The first two days he was here we had fresh snow and I had been boarding some new bowls and chutes out the back which I was keen to show him. We quickly found some areas with fresh powder and made sweet lines down into the trees. Some small jumps and a bit of park for Andrew made for two happy boys. We’ve already made plans to get to Sunshine Resort next week.

Getting out on the ice for an ice hockey tutorial from a Canadian mate.
Showing those skills…actually trying not to fall over.
No more snowmobile adventures around the mountain for me.
I’ll miss those morning and evening drives up and down the mountain for work.
Just because I love bagels and cream cheese.
Megan and Andrew.
The crew hiking for somewhere to get some air.
Me loving the snow at the moment!!
A clear day from the top.
